With Lebanon facing one of its most severe crises, Berytech and the World Food Program have launched The Food System Challenge. Their goal is to help Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Cooperatives working across the food system to increase food security and resilience in Lebanon, by improving local production, transformation, and consumption.
The program’s main outcomes are:
- enhanced food security
- a well-functioning local food system
- enhanced efficiency and resilience of the participating cooperatives and SMEs
- increased employment opportunities, especially for women and vulnerable individuals
The Food System Challenge is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). For more information on the 10 selected participants, jury feedback and next steps, see Berytech’s latest update on the program
